Mount Tabor

Mount Tabor is located in the lower Galilee region of northern Israel near the Plain of Esdraelon . Tabor is relatively low (1,929 feet), yet it dominates the level landscape around it. It is the site were Barak, under the direction of Deborah, gathered his men and descended into the plain to defeat Sisera. It is also the traditional site (although disputed) of the transfiguration of Jesus. Many believe some part of Mount Hermon is the more likely site.
