The Amphitheater at Delphi on the lower slope of Mount Parnassus about 6 miles from the Gulf of Corinth. Delphi is the center of the most important Greek oracle and temple of Apollo. The ancient Greeks considered Delphi the center (navel) of the world. The famous oracle at Delphi was consulted on private matters and affairs of state. Its utterances have swayed nations.
